I forgot how tiring it was to have a puppy… after all.. it’s been 11 years since I have had one.. gah!   All the little things that you forget about when you have older dogs around.. but puppies.. they do lots of little things.. like…

bring you your shoes….

hide your shoes because you have already scolded them for bringing them to you…

bringing you your socks…

and your underwear….

licking your toes..

nipping your chin.. or nose when you think you are getting puppy kisses

pouting… because you have scolded about the nipping

the fascination with the littlest stick..

the wonder of finding a stick.. with leaves attached!!!

loving the big huge waterbowl on the deck… (ummm… it’s a puppy pool silly pup!)

splashing in the puppy pool…

sticking your face underwater in the puppy pool

going in the big pool with pawrents.. and swimming on their own!!

growing and inch and a half overnight… I swear he did last night!!

and so much more…

Here’s a picture of a first today… we got our first chewy compressed meat/rawhide bone.  This is not your typical rawhide bone.. this is more compressed meat since he is a pup.. He loved it.. actually chewed it in the shady grass  for over an hour this afternoon!!  I think I’m onto something here!! lol

I would never give him it unsupervised.. cause you never know with these when they get to be small pieces.. but man.. he enjoyed himself today!!  He only made a small dent.. so there is lots for tomorrow afternoon in the backyard!!

While cleaning up my cellphone… I discovered some photos that I had there so I transferred them over to my external hard drive.

One in particular made me smile bigger than a kid in a candy store… my sweet boys paw prints in the snow…   I took these when we were walking on the dyke by the river in February…   his front paw is the one in the middle…   ♥♥♥

Ok.. seems like I can post pictures again.. so.. let me try this again for Mr. Wilson… I know some of ya’s could not see the Facebook pictures.. so.. hopefully this will do!!  :O)

Here is a picture of the two of them together…  He looks so BIG in the photo!!

Here is something  funny  though… right on the white  stripe of Wilson’s brow, he has a brown spot right beside his left eye….

Check out Ms. Maggie.  she has the same spot, but in black, right beside her left eye!!

Coincidence?  or Fate?  lol

Took him to the vets on Saturday for his 2^nd booster shot.  He weighed in at 16.7 lbs… HE”S ONLY 11 WEEKS OLD!!!!!   I discovered that I have been underfeeding him.. I thought he was only about 12 lbs.. and giving him 1 ¾ cups a day.  For his size and age.. he should be getting 2 1/3!!  Egads!  We wouldn’t want to stunt his growth now.. would we??

Needless to say, a visit to the vets is very tiring.  Here is Mr. Wilson on the ride home.

I do believe that he will be a large Springer like his dad.  Speaking of his dad, here is a picture of his dad.  His name is Mac.

Another few to make you smile… Maggie and Wilson playing tug of war.  I am so pleased with the way these two are interacting now.  Maggie plays with him and when she gets a hold of the toy, she doesn’t pull away.  She waits for him to clamp back on.

And.. believe it or not.. Mr. Wilson LOVES the water!!  We have had him in the pool 3 times.. and last night he swan approx. 12 feet by himself to the ladder!!  Here he is chilling with Maggie after a towel dry!!

Loving the puppy days!!  They go by sooooo fast!!

On another note.. what did I find by my bed this morning when I got up?  Another white feather!!  HI FRANKLIN!!!!!!  Glad you are checking in!!  ♥

It’s funny..

Mr. Wilson lies at the bottom of the bed…facing the door, just like Franklin did.

Mr. Wilson talks to you in that “rawr, rawr, rawr”, just like Franklin did.

wonder who is teaching him that???  hmmmmmmmmmm sweet boy??

Everyday is a new day with a puppy at home…   6am risings, 7am feedings, naps in between hard play time..  noon and 5pm feeds, pees and poops and lots of treats and “good boys”

Wilson can now sit on command..  and now we are working on “lay down”  he is also a good boy for sitting when he comes in when his paws are wet!  Such a proud momma here!

Big Sister Maggie is getting along so well with him, she has been playing, walking with him and tonight was cleaning his face.  Her attitude and caring just amazes me sometimes.  she has completely turned around from the snarl, snip and growl when he first came.

I’m trying to load up pictures but I am getting errors..   so I linked my facebook page pictures.. I hope it works.. if not.. let me know so I can figure out what is going on.. lol

Hey there gang… just thought I would share a moment with you…

I belong to this group called English Springer Spaniel Lovers on Facebook..  and it is full of ESS owners from all over the world, USA, Canada, Europe, and even Thialand and Australia..

It is such a great happy site that shares so many pictures of puppies and beautiful dogs all around the world.  It also chats about different things, like crat training, how many ESS’s you have, illnesses, traits, corrective behaviour, etc.

Well.. the other day I came across this picture of Melvin, he is a springer who lives in Sweden!!

Not sure.. but there are moments where Maggie doesn’t mind the little gaffer…

like one of these..  but maybe she is just too dang dawg-tired to care… lol

5 days ago.. my life changed… again! So many smiles, so many tears, so many more snuggles and puppy kisses!!! I have got to be crazy.. I forgot what it was like to have a puppy in the house!! Maybe I should have waited and seen if there was a rescue Springer to pop up! Nah.. puppy for now.. rescue spring will happen in a year or so.. which means.. I will have 3 dogs at one time!! yikes!!

Thursday morning we rose very early to make the 2 hour drive to Sarnia to pick up our new addition to the family. We got there about 8:15am and it was a rainy day! After he got his first set of booster shots, and his deworming, money was exchanged, pictures were given to us from when he was a day old and we walked out to the car with big grins on our faces!

We stopped at a service center so that we could get a coffee on the way home and to let him out on his harness and leash to see if he needed a pee. Well.. it was the first time he saw grass.. and wet grass to boot! He just sprawled out in it not moving.. then started licking it!! After a while, he did realize it was ok to walk on and we walked around for a bit.. and he did pee!! Good little guy!!

We introduced him to Maggie at home in the kitchen then proceeded outside to the backyard. After a few looks from Maggie as if to say.. “WTF???” we got him to do his business outside in the backyard. We have had a few snarls, growls, yips and snaps from Maggie to the little guy,. But she is telling him the laws and who is boss. She doesn’t like when he gets tooo hyper and starts getting snippy. She sets him straight there. Sometimes she lets him lay beside her.. sometimes she doesn’t lol. She doesn’t mind when he is beside her when we go for a walk, or when they are walking around the backyard.. She has even laid on the deck and let him play with her orange hockey ball! Mind you.. I could hear her screaming at him to leave it alone!!

Overall.. it will take a little bit for her to adjust to him and him to her.. he will learn her laws… eventually.

Crate at night time has worked out very good.. he wakes up through the night once.. goes outside to do his business then goes right back to sleep again Thursday he woke up at 3:40am then went back to bed till 7am, Friday was 5:00 am and back till 8am and Saturday was in bed at 11:30pm and slept till 6:45am straight through!! And NO messes in his crate!! He is such a good boy…

Saturday was the one month anniversary for my sweet Franklin ♥♥♥♥ and to celebrate and toast Frankie, we played with Franklin’s squeaky hotdog with the new pup. Not the original hot dog, as that one is with Franklin on the dresser! But, Franklin loved those squeaky toys and yes, we did have more than one!! I know Franklin was grinning seeing how much this guy LOVES squeaky toys too!!!

We decided on his name by Saturday.  We played with a few names.. Winston being one, Wendall, Jasper, Jackson, and Ripley being the others. But…he responded best to one in particular.

So.. without further adieu… I introduce to you… Mr. Wilson!!!!

We decided on Saturday that his name was Wilson as this is what he responded to best!

And sometimes, like I said, sometimes, Maggie will let him touch her…  he is actually lying on her back legs here.. lol
