20 weeks…….

today…   and the last few weeks haven’t been that great.  :O(

I’m seeing a decline…  I’m trying to get Franklin to put a pound or two back on.. just so that he is not so boney!!  lol   Even if he doesn’t put it on, he is on a higher protein food than Maggie because he burns it off quicker of course.  I have to admit.. he is loving the new food..

I’ve noticed that Franklin’s joints on his three legs are a little larger than normal.. I mean.. what can you do if the osteo has started to attack the remaining joints?    Nothing.. ..  but love him to death and help him when he needs help.  I have vowed that this pup will not suffer a day and when he lets me know it is time.. it will be time..  I will  not be selifish about this.. I promise.

Last night he fell going up the stair of the deck.. and he was pretty wobbly on his feet after that.   I Massaged him down.. loved him up and then he took off running!  go figure!  Maybe he is playing with me and thinking.. “hey… if I kinda act a little wobbly here.. I will get an awesome massage… hmmm wonder how many times I can do this”?  lol

He is slower getting up off his bed… and he is starting to show signs of his age..

My son called me the other day.. Franklin fell getting down off the couch.. and now my son has measured the tv room, and we are re-arranging it so that he and my sweetie can build a ramp so Franklin can get up and down off the couch on a ramp…   what does this tell you that this dog has done to our hearts…

Crazy pooch.. has us all wrapped around his front right paw pinkie!

bark atcha later!

I'm Canadian eh? living in Southwestern Ontario. My crew consists of my sweetie Fred, my son (25yrs) and my daughter (22yrs) as well as our 4 legged kids, Maggie (12yrs) and Wilson (1year). Franklin was my sweet boy who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2012. His leg was amputated on December 4, 2012. He was the cutest tripawd on this planet. He was happy every day. His tail was always wagging. Lung Mets took him from us on May 15, 2013. Rainbow bridge became a happier place with his arrival. We miss him terribly everyday. We lost our kitty in September 2012. Diesel, who was 18 1/2 years old when he passed at home, was (and still is) the Godfather. He is missed terribly by all. They are curled up together sleeping at the bridge under the stars, happy to be sleeping buddies again.

  1. Aww! I understand completely how you feel. Bruno went from sleeping on our bed then to the loveseat in the living room, then I removed the legs off the loveseat so he wouldn’t have to jump down and lastly we end up making him a pallet on the livingroom floor(towards the end). I too did whatever to make him comfy. There will be bad days, but as long as there are more good days ahead I vowed to keep on. In the end, you will know when it is time and do what must be done out of love. It wasn’t easy for me but we love them enough to not want to see them suffer. Stay sting and best wishes

  2. Such a handsome “young” man. WOW! 14 yrs. Young?? When K went back to review Franklins blog and saw his confusing journey ‘was really impressed with is story. He won the lottery when you adopted him:-)

Yeah, joints age whether four legs or three. I’m sure I’ve already checked arthritis med. options, etc. It could just be the normal aging process……even the weight loss.

He’s wth you ow and being loved and spoiled up a storm and that’s all he cares about!

Franklin knows what it’s like to be loved and to live…and continue t live…a life of meaning. He knows you will always do what’s best for him and that frees him up to be stress free and just enjoy each and every moment being immersed with your love.
I love the photo where he was using his buddy as a foot stool.
🙂 He really knows ow to pose for the camera!

We are surrounding you with the strength you need and the peace and calm of knowing Franklin is with you r now AND forever.

Holding you and Franklin gently in our hearts,

    Sally and Happy Hannah

  3. Just want to clarify 1st paragraph…..not confusing journey…but INSPIRING journey!! Franklin’s probably saying “they” may have been confused, but I was perfectly clear!

  4. Aww Franklin. I am so sorry that there hasn’t been good days in the past few weeks. I vowed to keep going until Sassy lets me know she is done fighting. I took my bed off the frame when she had her amputation done. So far we are still kicking butt. Prayers for you Franklin.

  5. So sweet of you! I love the image of your son measuring the room and getting the furniture just right so that your pup can still get to all his favorite places. It’s just so sweet, so loving. Love him up, for sure!

  6. Hey Frankie, whatever is going on I hope it’s nothing serious. Remember that we are here for your people to talk to OK? I know it ain’t easy, so don’t be a stranger.

You have a really great pack there my friend. I can’t wait to see your custom living room!

  7. Hey Franklin you keep kickin butt you hear? We are always wonderin’ where you and your mama are at! Like Wyatt Ray says, don’t be a stranger, don’t forget we are here for ya!! Jilly sends lots of kisses your way and hopes this is just a temporary thing!
